Ash Landfill Site Inspector
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite)
Contract: 24 months
Schedule: 40 Hours
Pay: $25-27/hour, DOE

The Planet Group is looking for an Ash Landfill Site Inspector to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a 24-months contract, working an onsite schedule from Grand Rapids, MI.

Ash Landfill Site Inspector | Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required, an Associate degree in a Technical/Construction field is a plus. Prefer 3 - 5 years relevant experience in a similar role.  
  • A fundamental and working knowledge of the State of Michigan Part 115 landfill regulations as well as general landfill operation, construction, and maintenance is required.
  • Candidate must be able to read and interpret civil and environmental drawings and related construction documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Candidate must be able to prioritize and deal with multiple activities on a daily basis.
  • A general understanding of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) CCR rules (2015 & 2024) is preferred.
Ash Landfill Site Inspector | Responsibilities: 
  • Field technician/analyst to oversee environmental compliance and construction at coal combustion residuals (CCR) landfills in the state of MI.  
  • Landfills are located near Muskegon, Holland, Bay City, and Monroe, MI.  
  • Two landfills are still open and operating, the others are closed, but have a 30-year post closure monitoring period.  
  • This position will oversee and ensure our contracted entities are completing compliance obligations related to maintenance, monitoring, inspections, surveying, and other engineering support.  
  • Additionally, this position will be expected to develop and maintain records, and support report development.  
  • At active landfills, oversight of closure work and new cell construction may be required, and reporting progress to the Landfill Program Manager.  
  • The candidate will also assist in quality assurance by auditing the activities of our 3rd party Engineer as they complete inspections, surveying, sampling, testing, etc. and reporting in a format acceptable to the agency having jurisdiction.
