Olympics Business Operations Manager
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Contract length: ~12 months
Schedule: Hybrid in Los Angeles, CA (WFH Fridays)
Pay: $54-59.16/hr, DOE
The Planet Group is looking for an Olympics Business Operations Manager to join our well-known retail brand on a roughly 12-month contract! This role is 40 hours per week and will be hybrid in Los Angeles, CA, working remotely on Fridays. This person will collaborate with the Business Integration team and a wide range of cross-functional partners across Brand, Sports Marketing, Product, Marketplace, and Geographies.
Olympics Business Operations Manager Qualifications:
- Highly effective operator who thrives in complexity and brings structure, clarity, and momentum to ambiguous environments
- Proven experience in business operations, program management, or similar roles within a global, matrixed organization
- Strong systems thinker with the ability to connect enterprise-wide interdependencies
- Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution
- Exceptional project management skills, including planning, risk management, and delivery tracking
- Clear, concise communicator with strong facilitation and stakeholder alignment skills
- High attention to detail, with the ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels
- Self-starter with a strong bias for action and comfort operating in ambiguity
- Experience engaging diverse stakeholders, including senior executives, external partners, athletes, and federations
- Brings cultural awareness and the ability to engage authentically across diverse global communities
- Demonstrates an understanding of the intersection of sport, style, and culture
Olympics Business Operations Manager Description:
- Translate strategy into execution, leading complex, cross-functional workstreams that deliver against the brand's LA28 ambitions
- Build and drive integrated workplans with clear priorities, milestones, ownership, and success metrics
- Design and implement scalable processes, tools, and ways of working to enable execution at speed and quality
- Lead end-to-end project management across multiple initiatives, ensuring alignment and on-time delivery
- Drive clarity in decision-making, roles, and ownership across a highly matrixed organization
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies early, and implement mitigation plans
- Align cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution across functions and geographies
- Communicate progress, insights, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership
- Enable teams to adopt new ways of working and foster a collaborative, high-performing environment
- Represent the brand with credibility and professionalism on a global stage
- Manage and oversee budget requests related to vendor and external partner engagements, ensuring effective coordination and alignment with organizational priorities
