Pay range $ 41-46 per hour (DOE)
1 year contract
The Planet Group is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer that is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting protection and control systems used in power substations. This role requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and hands-on technical skills to support system reliability and safety.
Engineers in this role work with a variety of equipment including microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, and motors.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying systems and associated equipment
- Perform calibration and testing of protection and control relays and devices
- Install, program, and maintain relays, PLCs, and related control systems
- Assist in the development and maintenance of protection and control documentation
- Support project leads with field assignments and project execution
- Participate in process hazard analyses and safety initiatives
- Stay current with industry trends, standards, and best practices
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- 0-3 years of relevant engineering or technical experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
- Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs
- Experience with AC and DC electrical systems
Additional Requirements
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned office location
