A major power generation company is seeking experienced Project Field Engineers to support construction and execution of a large waste-to-energy facility expansion. This role will serve as the technical link between engineering teams, construction contractors, and project management to ensure work in the field is executed safely, efficiently, and according to design specifications.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy working directly in the field on active construction projects, coordinating contractors, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring projects progress on schedule.

The project environment is highly collaborative and involves coordination across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & controls, and structural scopes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site engineering support during construction and commissioning phases of a large waste-to-energy facility project.

  • Work closely with contractors and project teams to ensure installation and construction align with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.

  • Coordinate and help resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) and other technical questions from contractors.

  • Support subcontractor coordination, bid clarification, and contractor engagement during construction activities.

  • Review engineering drawings and verify the correct revisions are being used in the field.

  • Participate in site walks, contractor coordination meetings, and field inspections.

  • Identify potential construction or design issues and collaborate with engineering teams to develop practical solutions.

  • Monitor contractor performance, safety compliance, and quality of installation.

  • Assist with cost control and change management, including field changes and contractor impacts.

  • Support schedule tracking by identifying potential delays and helping implement corrective actions.

  • Coordinate work across multiple disciplines including electrical systems, instrumentation, mechanical equipment, and structural installations.

  • Assist with equipment installation verification, quality assurance checks, and vendor coordination.

  • Support commissioning and startup activities as project systems are completed.

  • Maintain documentation of field activities, technical issues, and project progress.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline preferred).

  • 7–15+ years of experience supporting construction execution on industrial or large capital projects.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and structural scopes.

  • Background supporting construction activities for industrial facilities such as power plants, waste-to-energy facilities, refineries, or other heavy industrial sites.

  • Ability to review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction site environment.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting waste-to-energy, power generation, or similar energy infrastructure projects.

  • Background managing contractors and coordinating field construction activities.

  • Familiarity with cost tracking, schedule coordination, and change management.

  • Commissioning and startup support experience.

  • OSHA or similar construction safety training.
