We are seeking a skilled Maintenance/Door Dock Technician to support daily facility operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently in an industrial environment.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH LOADING DOCK DOORS
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Follow all safety requirements, including OSHA standards and lock-out/tag-out processes.
- Complete regular equipment rounds to identify issues, record findings, and ensure reliable performance.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on facility and dock-related equipment, including:
- Measuring and evaluating operating conditions (speed, pressure, vibration, etc.).
- Replacing wear items such as belts, hoses, fluids, and filters.
- Servicing dock equipment (levelers, seals, bumpers), commercial doors, and related hardware.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks including lubrication, filter changes, condenser cleaning, oil changes, and minor mechanical adjustments.
- Handle light facility repair work such as cleaning, patching, painting, basic plumbing, and simple electrical tasks (e.g., lighting repairs).
- Complete required training on confined space procedures, hazardous energy control, and documentation practices.
- Accurately document all work in the maintenance management system, including findings and improvement recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and on-site staff regarding work status and timelines.
- Support and coordinate with subcontractors when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by site leadership.
Qualifications Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional trade school, technical training, or coursework is a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with:
- Commercial dock levelers
- Commercial doors and automatic doors
- Dock locks
- Overhead door hardware
- Experience working with pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems is required.
- Background in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or carpentry-related tasks is preferred.
- Familiarity with major dock/door system manufacturers is helpful but not required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- AAADM certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to read and interpret written, oral, diagram, and visual instructions.
- Strong adherence to safety rules and operational procedures.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately.
- Basic writing skills for completing reports and email communication.
- Ability to navigate and use work order/CMMS systems.
- Comfortable speaking with customers, coworkers, and small groups.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and portable power tools.
