Job Description
Job Title: Senior Rail Project Engineer
Location: KC, STL and Omaha offices; travel 10-20%
Contract length: 12-month Contract
Pay: $60/hr - $100/hr
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 7 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Required or
- Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 7 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Required or
- Master Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Required
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members
- Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
- Ability to travel
- Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred
- Will direct and coordinate work associated with the study and/or design of civil site development infrastructure systems, including but not limited to rail and stormwater
- Coordination of activities of several disciplines may be required for projects of significant or moderate scope, or a combination of smaller projects
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members
- Assists with supervision of staff and task management on major projects
- Regularly coordinates with design team members, clients, sub-consultants, utility companies or other project stakeholders
- Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the site civil design and analysis as it relates to rail projects
- Performs tasks requiring applications of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures
- Standard design of civil project work
- Assist task leaders and project managers with various project duties
- Serve as a team member on multi-disciplined projects
- Works with senior staff on technical aspects of a project
- Other duties as assigned
