Job Title: Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) Systems Analyst
Location: Michigan

Compensation Range: $110k-$115k
Are you an Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) expert who enjoys making ERP systems work smarter, building custom reports, and helping users get the most out of their technology? This is an opportunity to take ownership of a customized P21 environment and make a direct impact on how a growing distribution business operates.
We're seeking a hands-on P21 Systems Analyst to serve as the go-to expert for system configuration, SQL reporting, DynaChange customization, user training, and business process improvement. You'll work closely with teams across sales, purchasing, inventory, warehouse, production, and accounting to turn business needs into practical system solutions.
- P21 Administration & User Support: Serve as the primary internal P21 resource, troubleshoot system issues, manage user accounts and permissions, maintain master data standards, and coordinate with Epicor support and external consultants as needed.
- SQL Reporting & Data Analysis: Develop ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data extracts using SQL Server, SSRS, Crystal Reports, and P21 portals and data views. Validate results and convert frequently requested reports into reusable tools.
- DynaChange Customization & Development: Modify screen layouts, fields, defaults, and permissions using DynaChange Designer. Develop, test, and maintain C#/.NET business rules to automate validations, warnings, and workflows.
- User Training & Documentation: Provide one-on-one and small-group training, create user guides and work instructions, and develop departmental super users who can support their teams.
- Business Process Improvement: Partner with sales, purchasing, warehouse, production, and accounting teams to identify inefficiencies and implement system-based improvements across distribution and production workflows.
- Data Integrity & System Controls: Audit master data, correct recurring data issues, manage imports and mass updates, and implement safeguards to improve accuracy and consistency.
- Testing & Change Management: Document and thoroughly test customizations, validate system changes and upgrades, coordinate support tickets, and follow up to ensure improvements are working as intended.
Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as an Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) power user, systems analyst, or similar ERP-focused professional.
- Strong working knowledge of P21 configuration and core distribution workflows, including order entry, purchasing, inventory, receiving, and production orders.
- Ability to independently configure and support P21 without relying on outside consultants for routine system changes.
- Proven experience writing SQL queries, joins, and views to develop reports using tools such as SSRS or Crystal Reports.
- Hands-on proficiency in C#/.NET, including developing, testing, and debugging DynaChange business rules and making screen modifications using DynaChange Designer.
- Experience training ERP users, documenting procedures, and explaining technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to testing, documentation, and data integrity.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice-to-have skills that would make a candidate more competitive but are not required.
- Experience with the P21 API, SQL Server stored procedures, or integrations between P21 and other business systems.
- Familiarity with P21 production orders, assembly, secondary processing, or remanufacturing workflows.
- Experience supporting P21 upgrades or migrations to web-based (Middleware) versions.
- Knowledge of inventory replenishment, order points, and inventory reporting.
- Experience building an ERP super-user program or leading system adoption and change management initiatives.
- Background in hydraulics, industrial distribution, or maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) distribution.
- Experience with Power BI, Excel Power Query, or other business intelligence tools.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing requests and take ownership of projects from requirements gathering through implementation.
