Instructional Designer - Digital Training Team
Location: Third Avenue, NY
Duration: 6 Months
Pay: $35/hr - $40/hr (DOE) 

The Planet Group is looking for a Instructional Designer, who will be responsible for designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining highly effective and engaging learning content for new technology solutions. This role blends instructional design with direct training delivery to support enterprise initiatives, new system rollouts, and ongoing organizational learning needs. The individual will leverage adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, facilitation skills, and user readiness strategies to meet the needs of diverse audiences across multiple delivery methods, including virtual instructor-led sessions, onsite training, e-learning, videos, and other digitized content.
In addition to content development and delivery, this role supports organizational change from a learning and adoption perspective. The Instructional Designer partners closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate technical functionality into user-centered learning experiences, reinforce key messages within training materials, and prepare stakeholders to adopt new workflows and behaviors. This includes identifying readiness gaps, addressing common user concerns within training environments, and equipping SMEs to communicate clearly and consistently with their audiences. The role plays a critical function in enabling successful adoption through education, reinforcement, and practical application.

Responsibilities:

• Instructional Design & Content Development
• Design and develop a variety of instructional materials, including guides, job aids, presentations, videos, e?learning modules, and other digital content.
• Translate identified performance gaps and business needs into learning requirements and measurable learning objectives.
• Selects appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of specialized audiences.
• Conducts QA, establishes templates and governance standards, and maintains inventory of learning materials and shared team resources. 
• Uploads and maintains training materials in team repositories and the LMS as needed.

• Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
• Knowledge of content authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, SnagIt, Captivate, Photoshop, Adobe Premier and/or Camtasia.
• Ability to prepare content with clear, concise, compelling value.
• Ability to apply adult learning theory principles and instructional design techniques to the creation of interactive eLearning and blended learning solutions.
• Ability to incorporate multiple media elements and/or gamification in learning programs including audio, video, animation, simulation, and graphics.
• Ability to work collaboratively with people across functional areas and levels of the organization.
• Flexibility to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
• Analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to define efficient processes and procedures
