Job Title: Fire Alarm System Mechanic
Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Fire Alarm System Mechanic at Eglin Air Force Base, FL. This role is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing fire/life safety systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and NFPA standards. The technician will service multiple fire alarm system manufacturers, maintain water-based suppression systems, complete accurate NFPA test reports, interpret technical drawings and manuals, train maintenance staff on system operation, and provide professional support to customers. This position is covered by the Service Contract Act (SCA).
Work Schedule:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs installation service repairs and testing on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products in accordance with manufacture's specifications and National Fire Protection Association standards.
  • Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers Fire/Life Safety Systems.
  • Support fire and life safety compliance activities associated with Joint Commission (TJC), NFPA, and healthcare facility requirements, including inspections, testing, documentation, deficiency identification, and corrective action tracking.
  • Inspect, maintain, and test all fire alarm equipment on site, and replaces defective components as needed, test initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter, makes needed repairs, and checks pressure gauges on suppression systems, such as wet pipe, and test electric fire pumps monthly.
  • Accurately complete NFPA inspection and test reports, document deficiencies in fire alarm and water-based fire protection systems, and initiate corrective maintenance recommendations as required
 
  • Train the Maintenance & Operations staff in operation and basic maintenance
    of the installed fire alarm systems smoke detectors and duct detectors.
  • Assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional
    manner.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience in healthcare facilities
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in the installation and testing of low voltage systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Preferred Simplex product knowledge and training and working knowledge of Windows based programs.
  • NICET II certified in the appropriate certificate program for the work to be performed (Level II certification in Inspection of Fire Alarm Systems, Level II (or greater) certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, or Special Hazard Suppression Systems).
  • National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) or Associated Air Balance Council (AABC) Certification required
  • Must have fundamental knowledge of electricity. (i.e.: Ohm's law, resistance and AC/DC Circuits.)
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, both conventional and addressable.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer and battery analyzer.
  • Knowledge of NFPA Standards and Codes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
