Job Description
We are partnering with our client to find an Environmental Technician to work out of Seatac area. You will be working with both hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste facility.
responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
- Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues
- Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities
- Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials
- Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites
- Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks
- Processes, includes some loading and unloading, solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations
- Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments
- Direct liquid waste through a pump system to tanks for storage
- Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
- Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other material
- Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition
- Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations
- Utilizes coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers
- Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
- Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering preferred
- High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
- 1+ years of related experience (required)
- 40 hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred) but we will help you obtain
