Job DescriptionThe Planet Group is seeking a senior structural engineering leader to guide a high-performing team supporting complex industrial projects within the manufacturing and life sciences sectors. This leadership role combines technical direction, project delivery, team development, and client engagement.
The selected candidate will serve as a technical authority for structural design, ensuring high-quality, code-compliant deliverables across industrial facilities, steel-framed buildings, concrete foundations, slabs, and specialty structures. The role includes reviewing and approving designs, supporting construction activities, and providing engineering guidance throughout project delivery.
You will mentor engineers and designers, strengthen technical standards, improve project execution, and collaborate with architecture, MEP, process engineering, and construction teams. This position also offers the opportunity to influence client relationships, support business growth, and contribute to successful project outcomes.
Relocation support may be available as a lump-sum package for qualified candidates moving to the preferred location.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; a master's degree is preferred.
- Active Professional Engineer license required, with the ability to obtain additional state licenses.
- 15+ years of structural engineering experience, including industrial project experience.
- 3+ years of experience leading teams and delivering complex engineering projects.
- Advanced knowledge of structural design for steel, concrete, foundations, slabs, and specialty structures.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, STAAD, or Tekla Tedds.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD preferred.
- Ability to review, approve, sign, and seal structural engineering documents as required.
- Strong understanding of engineering codes, safety, quality, budgets, schedules, and project delivery.
- Proven ability to mentor teams, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across disciplines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
