Job Title: HVAC Superintendent

 

Job Summary:

The HVAC Superintendent oversees the daily operations of HVAC field projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role is responsible for supervising field crews, coordinating with project managers, and maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervise and coordinate HVAC field installation crews across multiple job sites.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and project specifications.
  • Review project plans and specifications to determine work schedules, staffing needs, and material requirements.
  • Monitor progress and provide daily updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Train and mentor field technicians and foremen.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including time sheets, change orders, and field reports.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC field operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation practices, and building codes.
  • Experience working on retrofit projects. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in HVAC preferred
  • Experience managing commercial or industrial HVAC projects is highly preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, installation practices, and mechanical codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
  • Familiarity with project management tools and basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, scheduling software)

Certifications

  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

 

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead and manage field crews
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors
  • Ability to resolve conflicts, make decisions under pressure, and maintain productivity
