Electrical Test Technician
Location: Devens, MA & Somerville, MA (100% Onsite)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Travel: None required
Schedule: Monday-Friday (Occasional second-shift work as project needs require)
We are seeking an Electrical Test Technician to support the Power Electronics team through the installation, configuration, testing, validation, and commissioning of prototype and production-level power electronics systems and large-scale DC battery storage systems.
This role supports both advanced prototype development and production system commissioning while working closely with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and collaborating with engineers to validate next-generation technologies.
This position will split responsibilities between Devens, MA (system installation and commissioning) and Somerville, MA (prototype development and testing).
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- General layout drawings
- Engineering reports
- Technical specifications
- Simulation results
- Experience with electrical system installation, configuration, and commissioning
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working around low- and medium-voltage electrical systems
- Experience with electrical subsystem or system-level testing and validation
- Knowledge of controls and programming
- Experience supporting advanced product development or prototype testing
- Experience performing root cause analysis on electrical failures
- Familiarity with power electronics and battery energy storage systems
Testing & Commissioning
- Perform subsystem and system-level testing and validation of power electronics equipment
- Install, configure, inspect, and commission electrical subsystems
- Execute repeated testing activities to validate system performance
- Support prototype development and production system commissioning
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and engineering documentation
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback from a testing and commissioning perspective
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure all technical requirements are achieved
- Report testing results and technical findings to design engineers
- Procure, fabricate, or assemble tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for upcoming testing activities
- Support development and operation of new test platforms
- Assist with troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and field failure analysis
- Perform hands-on work with:
- Low Voltage systems (<1,000V)
- Medium Voltage systems (1kV-35kV)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Regular standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, and computer work
- Work in industrial environments that may include:
- Heat and cold
- Noise
- Fumes
- Strong magnetic fields
- Lead (Pb)
- High voltage and high current systems
- Pressure systems
- Cryogenic equipment
- Required to work onsite five days per week during active assembly operations
- Occasional second-shift work may be required based on testing schedules
