HVAC Technician II
Location: Greater Cincinnati, OH area
Pay: $32-38 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st shift
Start Date: As soon as available
Travel Requirement: Approximately 50%, including overnight assignments (some projects may last multiple weeks)
An established facilities services organization is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician II to support multiple commercial and industrial sites. This role focuses on preventive, corrective, and general maintenance of HVAC and related building systems. The position is based in the Cincinnati metro area but requires frequent regional travel and is not tied to a single location.
The technician will work independently and as part of a maintenance team to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards. Responsibilities include equipment service, system testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination with site leadership to maintain reliable facility operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform facility maintenance according to established procedures and safety standards
- Conduct routine inspections to identify system deficiencies and maintenance needs
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and mechanical systems, including:
- Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Rooftop Units (RTUs)
- Chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and heat exchangers
- Pumps, valves, piping, filters, and heat transfer components
- Mini-split systems, ice machines, walk-in freezers, and commercial kitchen equipment
- Monitor system performance by recording temperatures, pressures, and other key readings
- Diagnose equipment issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Respond to heating and cooling service requests in a timely and professional manner
- Support water treatment programs for chilled water, condenser water, and closed-loop systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on base?building and critical equipment with minimal disruption to operations
- Maintain accurate records including operating logs, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation
- Manage work orders and maintenance history using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Maintain inventory of parts, filters, refrigerants, and maintenance supplies
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical and motor controls, including:
- Single? and three?phase motors
- Basic conduit work and wiring (license requirements may apply)
- Assist with larger repair projects and support other technicians as needed
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures, including proper PPE use and hazardous material handling
- Perform general facility maintenance tasks as required (plumbing, drywall, painting, carpentry)
- Communicate effectively with site contacts to provide updates on work status and system conditions
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a formal HVAC training program required (documentation needed)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
Experience
- Minimum of six (6) years of hands?on HVAC experience
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid driver's license required
- Applicable HVAC certifications and licenses required
Technical
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical components
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical systems
- Experience working with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and commercial refrigeration
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms and maintenance documentation practices
Communication
- Ability to read technical manuals, safety rules, and operating instructions
- Ability to complete written reports and maintenance records
- Clear, professional communication with team members and site personnel
