Job Description

Senior Accountant
Contract-to-hire
$45-50/hr
Hybrid - Boston
 

These are the criteria we require:

  • Accounting or Finance degree
  • 3+ years of experience in financial operations
  • Academia or non-profit experience a plus
  • Workday or large ERP system experience preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; with high attention to detail and deadlines
  • Comfortable working with large data sets
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; especially Excel with experience in using pivot tables and vlookups
  • Ability to prepare account reconciliations and proactively resolve differences; understanding prepaid expenses and deferred revenue
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline oriented department

Some of the specific tasks we are looking for the candidate to perform are:

  • Prepare prepaid expenses, misc. receivables, deferred revenue and other balance sheet account reconciliations, as needed
  • Reconcile gift awards to budget and determine amounts that will be paid in FY27
  • Create accounting adjustments and reclass journal entries related to gifts, student groups
  • Research endowed gifts with unspent budget and determine if there are expenses to use to apply to the gift
  • Provide support and assistance to the Controller in preparing schedules for the year-end external audit; setting up reconciliation spreadsheets and online folders for FY27
