Seeking an Electrical Engineer to take control of their career potential in our Phoenix office. This position will partner with a multi-discipline team to develop designs of electrical substations for renewable projects to support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity across the United States and Canada. Opportunities may include, but not limited to:
- Lead technical specifications development for large EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, including development of project scope, schedule, and estimates.
- Assist Project Managers in bid evaluation and project planning.
- Lead design team from conceptual phase through completion and act as an Engineer-of-Record for large complex substation and gen-tie projects.
- Lead the preparation technical proposal including scope, schedule, and budget.
- Act as a technical liaison with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Provide engineering support during construction including field inspections and witness tests.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Grow and manage relationships with clients.
- Mentor less experienced staff in substation project execution.
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
- Perform QA/QC for deliverables to clients across multiple offices.
- Manage all schedule, budget, and quality of assigned projects.
- Providing support for our clients during construction.
- Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
- Leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
- Coordinate with utilities and regulators for the interconnection process
- Corresponding and/or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
- Advancing into leadership roles.
- Support business development and marketing initiatives
- Requirements:
- § Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
§ Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
§ Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus.
§ 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
§ Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
§ Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
§ Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
§ Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
§ Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and other electrical analysis programs.
§ Working knowledge of computer software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D and 3D rendering programs
§ Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
§ Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
