Job Summary:
  • The Sr. EHS Specialist will assist with promoting a safe work environment and a positive safety culture. Supports EHS managers with all aspects of occupational safety, employee health, and environmental compliance. Assists in the training and coaching of employees with safety programs and safe work practices. Multiple responsibilities surrounding data gathering, structuring, and prioritizing in order to identify safety trends, practices, and metrics.

Essential Job Functions: 
  • Able to work with EHS Management to establish and promote a safe work environment.  
  • Identify training needs and create/deliver appropriate curriculum to close the gaps.  
  • Gathers and presents safety data and metrics to key members.  
  • Identifies unsafe work conditions and takes the initiative to implement corrective actions.  
  • This includes understanding teams with whom to coordinate as well as understanding and communicating the issue in a meaningful and effective way.  

Education:    
Basic Qualifications: 
  • Actively engage with the workforce to promote a safety culture of awareness and self-responsibility.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of all occupational safety policies, processes and procedures.
  • Will coordinate and oversee outside vendors for various services provided for safety compliance and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Performs inspections and audits relating to occupational safety and recommends corrective measures. Will assign action item owners and track items to completion.
  • Be responsible for all required reports, metrics and information to EHS Management and company Management in a timely manner.
  • Supports EHS Management and Human Resources to manage the company Return-to-Work program for injured employees.
  • Work directly with Supervisors to ensure accident, incident, and near miss investigations are thorough and completed with assigned corrective actions.
  • Will support the management of the Emergency Response Team and assist ERT members with completing specific training requirements.
  • Responsible for creating and conducting safety training, including new employee safety orientation, in support of Impossible safety programs and policies.
  • Will assist Management with reviewing new or modified equipment to ensure all safety concerns are mitigated.
  • Will track and report progress of safety team activity, area safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • In conjunction with the Facilities team and Lab team, manage the hazardous waste, and prepare waste for disposal, track data and manifests, and complete all reports.
  • Along with EHS Management, will lead the Emergency Response Team, and participate as an active, fully trained member. May need to respond to facility emergencies at all hours.
  • Will ensure site-specific programs to train supervisors, employees and vendors are continuously updated as needed, and annually thereafter.  Programs will meet corporate standards and meet regulatory requirements. Will ensure all necessary training is provided to employees and vendors.
  • Responsible for ensuring storm water inspections and storm water sampling is conducted, as required.
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in a related field is desired, but not required.
  • HAZMAT Ground Shipper Certification (DOT)
  • 3-5 years of safety experience in a food production or manufacturing environment is required.
  • 2 years as an EHS Specialist at Impossible Foods or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certifications in Environmental, Health & Safety are preferred.
  • 3-5 years of environmental, health and safety experience is required.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain excellent recordkeeping, inventory, and accountability.
  • Effectively work with a diverse, dynamic team in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities.
  • Proficient skills in data entry, technical writing, Microsoft Office suite programs, and Google suite programs are required.
  • Must be action oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must have demonstrated industry practices knowledge and experience
  • implementing policies and procedures.
  • Can resolve issues in innovative as well as practical ways.
