Job Description

  I.          Purpose To lead and influence design and brand aesthetic across company touchpoints including primary and secondary packaging and corporate brand assets. The graphic designer will lead the design process from conceptualization to execution.
  II. Primary Duties  
  1. Collaborate with Director of Marketing and President on seasonal creative direction
    1. Responsible for executing design direction for key retail selling seasons including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Summer, Halloween and Holiday as well as every day and secondary seasonal product offerings
    2. Develop style guide, including fonts, print / pattern, and product inspiration, by season driving overall  production development and visual inspiration for the brand. Guide used both internally for development team and externally for customers to position the company as a trend leader in the industry   
  2. Product concepts for seasonal customer presentations
    1. Act as point person facilitating the flow of communication and design development among key internal and external parties designing and producing packaging for each key selling seasons and customers – from kick-off, to rounds of revisions, through to prepress printer approvals
    2. Assist team as needed in management of mock-ups for customer presentations
  3. Assist in the development of packaging solutions across numerous substrates and categories
    1. Key member of the product development team, contributing ideas, design iterations and a working knowledge of packaging solutions
    2. Manage die lines and technical details for packaging best practices in support of owned brand and private label partners
  4. Maintain corporate brand identity initiatives and touchpoints in partnership with Director of Marketing
  5. Project management
    1. Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time by all members of the team
  6. Other
    1. Create digital content for website and social media channels
    2. Contribute to team effort as needed
    III.   Knowledge & Experience
  1. Requirements  
  1. Adept at Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
  2. Excellent design skills with an eye for shape, color, print/pattern and typography
  3. Experience with food packaging a must including application of food labeling regulations
  4. Ability to provide design direction and apply it to functional and appealing packaged goods
  5. 6+ years of experience preparing packaging for multiple packages/companies
  6. Attention to detail and organization
  7. Self-directed and collaborative a must
          IV. Contacts
  1. Internal
  • Frequent contact with all department heads and personnel.
2. External
  • Frequent contact with companys. customers and suppliers.
  V. Responsibility
Responsible for efficient and effective logistics and all related aspects as detailed above

    VI. Physical Requirements
Requires the ability to move about the facility, communicate with contacts, and travel as needed.  Must be able to operate office equipment and carry heavy boxes, up to 50 pounds.
