Senior Accountant
$85-90k

The Senior Accountant is a professional capable of fulfilling the corporate accounting and requirements of the month end and year end close processes, including collaboration with other departments and peers, while overseeing and developing junior level accounting staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting:  AP, AR, GL
  • Complete financial results and timely and accurately prepare consolidated financial statements and accompanying monthly schedules
  • Review month end reconciliations, provide appropriate feedback and follow up as necessary
  • Collaborate with finance team and other departments to ensure GL transactions are recorded properly
  • Identify accounting problems, research possible solutions, and form conclusions to present to management
  • Review weekly cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare spreadsheets for planning, compliance and various audits (bank, financial, 401k, workers comp, etc)
  • Complete monthly journal entries and post additional adjusting entries as needed
  • Assist in year-end audit preparation
  • Prepare annual state reports
  • Ability to support the payroll department with state tax setups and general account maintenance
  • Ensure all transactions are in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist in the review and monitoring of Accounts Receivable balances to ensure timely collection  
  • Support annual budget process and prepare a consolidated budget for all business lines
  • Collaborate on company policies and procedures and process improvements
  • Train and mentor staff accountant and any future accounting interns

EDUCATION/LICENSING REQUIRMENTS: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience, ideally a mix of public and private
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and strong understanding of the general ledger and financial statements
  • Experience with federal and state tax reporting (payroll/income tax)
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy and dependable
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with month end and year end close process
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents
  • Proficient computer skills-Microsoft Suite with high proficiency in Excel (Intacct experience preferred, but not required)
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Team player with excellent written and oral communication skills
