The Research Associate Supervisor oversees the technical aspects and daily activities of the Laboratory Sciences technical team. Responsibilities include direct supervision of Research Associates and/or laboratory support staff in the bioanalytical laboratory; conducts interviews, hiring, and training of employees; plan, assign, and direct work for employees as well as manage their schedule and performance; address complaints and resolve problems pertaining to the function of Laboratory Sciences.


 

Responsibilities:
  • Supervision of the Laboratory Sciences technical team, including but not limited to, PTO management, timesheet approval, on-going and yearly performance reviews, employee hiring, disciplinary actions and termination.
  • Oversight, management and/or coordination of the training and training records for the Laboratory Sciences technical team.
  • Assigns staff schedules and oversees the duties of the technical team.
  • Fosters a positive work environment, plans and participates in team-building activities
  • Acts as a liaison between the Laboratory Sciences scientific and management team for resource allocation and assignment of staff to laboratory procedures to ensure on-time completion of required lab analyses.
  • Ensures staff maintains Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and adheres to all written procedures
  • Proactively communicates scheduling issues and/or problem/performance resolutions to departmental managers.
  • May assist in sponsor visits and regulatory audits and ensure the timely resolution to any related findings.
  • Maintain and advocate a high level of customer service and quality within the department.
  • Other tasks as assigned by departmental management.

Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year training and/or supervising staff required
  • At least 2 years working in a research environment preferred
  • Bachelor's degree, specializing in science and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Able to adapt easily to new software programs.
  • Customer service focused, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
