The Plant Director is responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating the overall plant operations in the Kenosha plant including daily manufacturing operations of the plant to ensure policies and procedures are being followed. This role will develop processes, make recommendations, and drive changes that will maximize safety, quality, and productivity and exceed customer expectations.
Business/Operations:
- Lead the Plant Management team by ensuring good and effective leadership with proper and efficient management of plant organization within internal framework and procedures (Company policies, Code of Conduct, SOP etc.)
- Plan and coordinate manufacturing operations for production, equipment, quality, and safety departments.
-Responsible for establishing and achieving target production and quality goals.
- Responsible for cost forecasting and follow up, within framework from Group Management.
- Define the capital needs and manage investment projects.
- Responsible for the continuous development and improvement of all plant operations
- Represent and participate in all company audits, external and internal.
- Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of improvements.
- Manage maintenance program to keep the plant safe and operational.
- Manage and track budgets for manufacturing costs and equipment.
- Supervise facility improvement projects.
- Submits potential projects/improvements to increase efficiencies.
- Work with a full operation management structure including maintenance, quality assurance, sanitation, finance, and human resources.
-Foster a culture of open communication and continuous improvement, keeping management and employees informed on the status and progress towards goals.
- Review and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production processes.
Labor Management:
-Manage, develop, and coach direct reports and plant staff while building and strengthening relationships in line with this organizations People Strategy and Values.
-Manage plant staffing based on approved headcount plan.
-Lead the hiring, development, and management of all plant employees.
- Manages employee performance by setting and communicating expectations and goals in accordance with company goals.
- Provides coaching to direct reports for improved performance and works closely with Human Resources to manage employees within policies and procedures.
Quality and Safety:
-Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to understand, manage, maintain, and enforce quality processes and programs such as GMP and HACCP.
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards. Ensures that quality is a priority throughout the facility.
-Manage, maintain, and enforce safety programs and guidelines.
- Provide leadership and guidance and safety programs.
- Train and develop employees on safety processes and procedures.
Education, Training and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in a relation field (preferred).
-10 years or more in a manufacturing environment, preferably food or food packaging.
-10 years or more in a management or leadership role.
-Knowledgeable in production equipment.
-Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, SQF and other local and state requirements as they pertain to the food industry.
-Ability to effectively lead and supervise a staff of 80-90 employees in fast-paced food production environment through:
-Integrity and leading by example
-Execute tasks through others and manage to a satisfactory outcome
-Effective and prompt communication at all levels of the organization
-Ability to motivate employee, keep discipline, on task and constantly striving for success
