Payroll Analyst
6-month contract, extension possible

Location: Remote (EST hours, open to location)

$25-28/hr

Must Haves:
  • Bachelor`s degree or equivalent experience, or Associate`s degree with 2-4 years of related Payroll work experience
  • An understanding of Payroll, state and Federal wage and hour laws and requirements
Preferred:
  • Experience processing pay for an employee on a disability or type of leave preferred

Job Description:

Processes payroll for all disability and leave types. Works daily reports to analyze what type of leave needs to be processed and what state guidelines need to be followed. Calculates state leave benefits, internal parental leave benefits, and retroactive regular salary. Calculates and bills for unpaid health and welfare benefits. Calculates and communicates overpayments based on timing of leaves and state regulations. Within the Payroll Dept., assists employees, managers, and SBU/Corp HR with pay related inquiries, requests, and transactions. Triages issues of a more complex nature, including highly complex scenarios, to subject matter experts. Consults with team members, Managers and HR Business Partners on cases that span across the value stream for New Hire/Term and Leave processes. Utilizes Payroll resources, such as standard work and policy manuals, to answer questions and resolve issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Partners closely with employees, managers, and outside business partners to gather comprehensive information to mitigate risk level and company exposure. Ensures all relevant parties are involved during the process.
  • Works seamlessly and independently with all payroll teams (New hire, Term, Disability and Payment & Compensation Team) on more complex issues/scenarios to ensure business partners are included when necessary and that all parties involved have appropriate line of sight.
  • Proactively identifies scenarios with potential issues and works with team and Supervisor on recommended mediation/triage of the issue or larger scale issues.
  • Assists in/coordinates user acceptance and regression testing of Payroll systems and in creating/updating test cases as appropriate.
  • Performs additional duties, such as assisting with other project-related work, as assigned.
  • Assists with work audits for team members and conducts training sessions on subject matter when capability gaps are identified.
  • Provides support/handles transactions that involve multiple HR processes/business partners and acts as a subject matter expert.
  • Supports continuous improvement principles by actively participating in team huddles, identifying issues/potential solutions, participating in root cause problem solving sessions, and recommending improvements to Standard Work guides and other process tools/templates.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Requires Bachelor`s degree or equivalent experience, or Associate`s degree with 2-4 years of related Payroll work experience; with processing pay for an employee on a disability or type of leave preferred.
  • Above average understanding of Payroll, state and Federal wage and hour laws and requirements.
  • Requires solid analytical and problem-solving skills to understand and address customer issues.
  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail, excellent organizational and customer service skills, and solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to exercise judgment in prioritizing work, responding to customer needs, and in determining when an inquiry/request requires higher-level involvement.
  • Displays solid research skills, with the ability to locate relevant information efficiently and effectively among various sources.
  • Works well within a team environment, partnering with other members to meet customer needs.
  • Displays solid PC skills; can easily learn and maneuver around core systems applications.
  • Requires the ability to maintain confidential information.
