SUMMARY: The HR Generalist will work closely with the HR Director and assist in the day-to-day HR operations. Responsibilities will include benefits & payroll administration, leave of absence management, and managing the background check process for both new hires and customer requirements. Provide a high level of support to all team members when it comes to HR matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Process payroll on a weekly basis. Manage PTO balances.
· Administers benefits programs such as medical, dental, life, disability and supplemental benefits.
· Manage the onboarding process for all new hires, from background check to ensuring employee set up is ready on day one, to ensuring managers have a comprehensive plan for bringing their new hires up to speed.
· In conjunction with TPA, manage employee leaves of absence in accordance with federal & state law.
· Maintain data integrity in the ADP WFN HRMS system. Create & provide ad-hoc reporting from ADP WFN.
· Maintain employee files and company records.
· Manage background check process for new hires as well as customer-specific requirements.
· Play an integral role in annual open enrollment.
· Assist with planning special events, employee appreciation events, apparel distribution, and coordination/editing of company newsletter.
· Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and updating/maintaining the employee handbook.
· Assist Safety & Compliance manager with maintaining employee licensing records & ensuring renewals are processed in a timely manner.
· Assist with updates to customer safety portals.
· Assist in special HR projects as needed.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 4-6 years in Human Resources
· HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred
· Strong knowledge of benefits and payroll administration, leave of absence federal and state regulations and basic understanding of employment laws
· Prior experience with ADP WFN system is strongly preferred. Solid knowledge of HRMS systems including maintenance & set up of such.
· Computer skills required: Must have a strong knowledge of HRIS systems, ADP WFN strongly preferred. Strong skills with Microsoft Office suite, MS Teams, and cloud-based platforms
· Strong interpersonal skills with savvy and the ability to maintain composure during difficult events
· Team oriented & collaborative
· Thrives in a fast-paced environment with effective multi-tasking skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Must be able to demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
