Gift Coordinator

Pay Range: $21-$23/hr
Must Haves:
Reporting to the Assistant or Associate Director of Gift Systems, the incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of recording and processing gifts to the University including the reviewing, adding and editing of demographic and gift information to the University Alumni and Development System. A Financial Assistant or Development Assistant will provide training and oversee his/her work.
The Gift Coordinator will be responsible but not limited to:

Must Haves:
- 2+ years experience handling gift processing including batching checks, logging gifts in the system, processing credit card contributions, posting the journal entries and preparing bank deposits
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Strong reading comprehension and grammatical abilities are essential.
- Familiarity with standard computer-based applications for word processing, database, and spreadsheet; standard web browsers (e.g. Chrome, Microsoft Explorer) and search engines; excellent typing skills preferred. Copy machines, calculator, heavy phone use.
- Experience in a higher education institution working within the development or accounting environment
- 2 years of college education

The Gift Coordinator will be responsible but not limited to:
- The incumbent will assist in the preparation of the daily bank deposit which includes opening mail and the review of accounts and documentation that substantiate gift classification; batching and totaling checks; logging matching gift receivables; screening out non-gift, and non-negotiable checks; processing credit card gifts; preparing bank deposit slips; creating journals for submission to the Office of the Controller; and preparing gift data for computer input.
- Reviews and interprets demographic information received with gifts to the University; adds or edits information to enhance the profile of each donor including their relationship to other donors on the file; uses various research tools including Internet websites and other University mainframe systems to obtain accurate demographic information; inputs gift data; and scans gift documentation to the development information system.
- The Gift Coordinator will answer or route to appropriate staff member, phone and email gift inquiries from donors and University staff.
- Minimum of 2 years related experience is required. High school diploma or its equivalent is required. The availability to work some overtime is required.
- Detail orientation is required; ability to work independently and with changing priorities is essential.
- The ability to work in a team setting and in a collaborative manner is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Strong reading comprehension and grammatical abilities are essential.
- Two years of college highly preferred. Work experience in university development or accounting environment is preferable.
- Prior work experience or the ability to recognize legal documents and properly associate names with proper organizations is preferable.
- Familiarity with standard computer-based applications for word processing, database, and spreadsheet; standard web browsers (e.g. Chrome, Microsoft Explorer) and search engines; excellent typing skills preferred. Copy machines, calculator, heavy phone use.
