This position is responsible for engineering technical support and construction management for operations and oversight. Individual must be able to manage contractors and subcontractors in accordance with construction designs, plans and specifications. Must have the ability to ensure that the project is being completed in accordance with project guidelines, design details, specifications, schedule, and within budget constraints. Individual will work directly with Contractors and Client for successful project completion.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
The Onsite Construction Manager should have experience in remedial construction planning/scheduling/delivery of a variety of remediation techniques, including soil excavation, sediment remediation (dredging), stream/wetland restoration and general site restoration.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Primary field contact with remediation contractors/subcontractors
- Ensure all work activities are in accordance with the approved Work Plans and in accordance with applicable specifications and drawings.
- Support management, coordination between Owner, Contractor and GEI Subcontractors.
- Lead and participate in daily meeting(s) with site contractors.
- Review construction phase submittals.
- Daily (or as needed) communication with the project team to discuss construction progress/schedule/issues.
- Track construction progress and schedules.
- Review Contractor’s pay requests.
- Prepare and document weekly agendas, run project meetings, issue meeting minutes
- Prepare daily and weekly reports.
- Coordinate site activities between contractors and local stake holders (Village of Middleport, regulatory agencies, property owners, etc.), and participate in meetings as necessary.
- Review changes in scope and Contractor requests for change.
- Address technical issues associated with unforeseen or differing site conditions.
- Monitor Contractor’s work for safety and quality.
- Review Contractor daily reports for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain project recordkeeping onsite or via Procore (daily/weekly reports, waste tracking, photographs, analytical testing results, air monitoring, punch list).
- Responsible for overall field safety including GEI personnel, contractors and other onsite personnel.
- Oversight of project closeout activities including final inspections, completion of punch lists, preparation of record drawings and construction completion reports.
- Assist with preparation and review of design cost estimates.
- BS in Construction Management or Environmental/Civil Engineering or Associates degree and equivalent experience.
- E.I.T., P.E., or CCM is desirable but not required
- 5-15 years of previous professional experience in an environmental construction remediation- related field; familiarity with environmental regulations
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and estimating and scheduling software.
- Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Physically able to perform construction site inspections.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher
- 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor’s Training
- 30-hour Construction OSHA Safety Training
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
