EPC Senior Project Manager I
Jackson MI USA
The Senior Project Manager will have an engineering or technical project management background with experience in power generation and distribution, renewable energy systems, and general facilities projects. This position will be onsite in Jackson MI with ability to travel to project sites in a personal vehicle.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage multiple new or retrofit projects individually and supervise the execution of other project managers from project development through to delivery to Operations, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Strong knowledge in project cost, quality, and schedule controls with experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera, and SAP tools.
Technical support to NSCE asset/plant managers on new construction, retrofit, plant improvement, and performance/reliability enhancements.
Technical support to NSCE business development team on proposed new renewable/storage projects or similar asset acquisition, including supply of design/procurement/construction insights and strategy.
Participate in NSCE renewable project operations execution, including interface with O&M service providers/contractors, warranty management, testing, environmental/regulatory compliance and other NSCE business groups (e.g., accounting, tax, legal).
General understanding of electric power generation from various sources and power transmission and distribution (T&D) from generators to customers.
Excellent communication skills while interfacing with third parties including building and regulatory officials, developers, insurance brokers, contractors, owner’s engineers, skilled trades, and others involved in project execution.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Project management skills.
Working knowledge of construction site and operating plant safety (e.g., OSHA, NFPA), risk management, quality requirements, and documentation control
Understanding of information (IT) and operations (OT) technology.
Advanced business management skills, acquired through Project Management Professional (PMP) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) pursuits (preferred not required)
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree from a ABET-accredited program in engineering, construction management, or technical field.
8+ years experience in Engineering or Project Management background, including problem solving skills in design and construction of new projects and familiarity power generation processes (e.g., operations, maintenance).
