EHS Manager      DESCRIPTION Job Purpose
Manage all site health and safety programs for compliance, loss control, safety, health, fire prevention, emergency response planning and associated training. Design and deliver programs to meet federal, state, local and corporate safety and health regulations while maintaining the applicable records and documentations demonstrable during an inspection or audit. Work with all departments, as well as the corporate office, facilities in Haines City FL and Tempe AZ, government agencies, industry associations, and peers within our industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):
  1. Manages and maintains current and accurate safety policies, manuals, and SOPs/procedures to ensure safety within our facility.
  2. Ensures applicable federal and state regulations, as well as corporate guidelines and policies are adhered to.
  3. Develops and maintains effective training programs that satisfy legal requirements and to reinforce a safe environment.
  4. Provides training (formal and informal) to employees, supervisors and managers on safety policies and practices.This includes maintaining and tracking training through Alchemy or like system. 
  5. Prepare and provide employee training program and SOP development for operations
  6. Manages and updates emergency action plans for employees and site.
  7. Provides safety orientation for all new employees as well as all visiting contractors.
  8. Serves as a safety representative for installation and safe operation of all new equipment.
  9. Conducts scheduled Safety Committee meetings for both operations, office, and management employees.
  10. Performs safety audits throughout the manufacturing facility as required for internal and external sources. Including regular safety inspections for fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, emergency lights, etc.
  1. Manages worker compensation claims in partnership with human resources and communicates with the insurance carrier and broker as necessary. Participate in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  2. Conducts risk assessment for all departments and make recommendations for modifications to practices, policies, and procedures to ensure safe work environment.
  3. Observes employees throughout the plant and provides feedback/coaching regarding unsafe acts and behaviors.
  4. Maintains a supply of safety equipment (PPE) used by the facility. Order supplies for all of operations and manages supply storage location. Perform monthly inventory of all operational supplies
  1. Works with first-line supervisors to design job specific training and ensure delivery; coach and counsel employees in EHS responsibilities.
  2. Prepare and manage safety budget.
  3. Communicate safety goals & track performance.
  1. Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
  1. Act as the primary approver for “Hot Work” permits. Document control of completed forms.
  1. May act as the security administrator for the facility.
  2. Participates in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and State and Government guidelines and reporting.

  SHIFT -not applicable-   POSITION REQUIREMENTS Qualifications include:
  • BS/BA preferably in a manufacturing related field
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing facilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • 30-hour OSHA training courses – Basic and training
  • This is an on-site postion (not remote) with Travel at approximatly 40%
