  • Identifying and continuously assessing risk
  • Developing, institutionalizing, and improving strategies to mitigate risk
  • Limiting the potential effects of information security events
  • The selection, assessment, authorization, and monitoring of security controls while contributing to the overall information security plan

The Information Security Section (ISS) is functionally organized into Security Awareness and Governance, Compliance, Architecture, and Portfolio Management. Cross-team collaboration is essential to our success. This is a technical position which provides investigative services, minimizing the negative impact and disruptions of a computer security incident and adding defensible integrity to electronic discovery. To successfully do this work, one must possess a diverse technical skill set, be persistent and logical, and be capable of working under pressure and multitasking. A federally recognized (ANSI) information security certification must be obtained within 6 months of the start date and maintained for this position. The Department of Defense (DOD) 8570 Baseline Certifications defined by Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is the baseline to consider when reviewing the relevance of the certification.

  • Lead efforts to maintain the central point of contact for the reporting and sharing of information involving computer security incidents
  • Lead efforts to minimize negative impact and disruptions of a computer security incident on business operations, financial state, and public image
  • Lead efforts to identify, collect, and preserve necessary data and evidence for criminal or civil prosecution and internal administrative actions while protecting their interests in any legal actions
  • Lead efforts to provide information on findings, root causes, lessons learned and recommended actions to prevent future incidents

  • Strong communication and documentation skills are necessary
  • Ability to translate technical content into easily digestible information
  • Security certifications (CEH, CISSP, etc.)
