Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of professionals and make a significant impact on critical transportation infrastructure projects.
Role description:
As a Senior Resident Engineer, you'll play a critical role in overseeing roadway and bridge construction projects, ensuring their smooth execution and adherence to strict standards.
Role accountabilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the work of a team of inspectors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Review and manage project documents, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and Submittals, ensuring compliance with client specifications and contract requirements within a budget.
- Lead negotiations with contractors and assist in preparing change order documentation for approved project scope adjustments.
- Collaborate closely with project management staff to prepare and manage project budgets, scope, and schedules effectively.
- Provide insightful analysis and reporting on key performance metrics (e.g., cost, schedule, safety) to monitor project progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement appropriate internal control safeguards to ensure consistent reporting of accurate information.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client and the contractor, fostering strong and collaborative working relationships.
- Must have 7-10 years of proven experience in construction management, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects involving Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Tollway.
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Illinois.
- A minimum of one of the following certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred.
- Proven experience with construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Bluebeam Revu) and strong understanding of relevant IDOT and Illinois Tollway standards.
- Prior IDOT Resident Engineer experience is highly preferred.
