Job Summary:
This is a non-Engineer degreed technical support role. Engineering Technologist applies developing technical expertise to solve simple problems, and management skills to provide oversight of work in a specific area of developing expertise, with close supervision (Transmission Line Engineering in this particular case). Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their field of study, and the ability to work with some degree of independence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafting for Major Projects
- Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in Transmission Line Design
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
- Preparing thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
- Conducts engineering and related studies
- Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills and performance
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
- Maintains accurate records and files
- Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Minimum Requirements:
- CAD Certified
- Proficient in Auto Cad
- Proficient in MS Office Suites
- Utility Industry experience (Desired, but not required)
- Good Communication Skills
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Technology
- Works well under pressure
- Adobe Acrobat or Blu-Bean knowledge
- GIS Systems knowledge (such as Google Earth, Google Earth Pro, MyWorld, SmallWorld, etc.)
