Job Description
Title Electrical Engineer II
Location Birmingham AL
Pay range $ 53-58 per hour (DOE)
9 months contract - possible extension
The Planet Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Level II) – Desired Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- 3–6 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
- Experience in detailed design of:
- Battery systems
- Chargers and inverters
- UPS systems
- DC fuse panels
- Proficiency with:
- AutoCAD
- AutoCAD Electrical
- CAD Overlay (7+ years preferred)
- Ability to independently prepare:
- Single-line diagrams
- Elementary diagrams
- Wiring diagrams
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical power system design principles
- Applicable codes and standards
- QA requirements and regulatory compliance (federal, state, and local)
- Support and assist in electrical power system design, including:
- Scope development
- Schedules and budgets
- Layout and circuitry design
- Develop and review:
- Single-line, elementary, and wiring diagrams
- Provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and drafters
- Assist with system checkout, startup, and commissioning activities
- Support DC system design including:
- Wiring and physical layout
- Equipment specifications
- Inspections and acceptance testing
- Coordinate across disciplines to ensure project efficiency and effectiveness
Preferred Experience
- Power plant electrical system design (especially fossil-fueled plants)
- Experience leading design efforts, including drawings and calculations
- Project scheduling and coordination to meet cost and timeline goals
- Ability to manage design scope on large projects with limited supervision
Soft Skills & Competencies

- Effective planning, organization, and execution abilities
- Ability to build relationships with:
- Plant staff
- Engineering teams
- Vendors
- Ability to work both:
- Independently and within a team environment

- Plant visits

- Field inspections
