Job Title: Design Director/Senior Designer, VMSD Innovation
Hybrid/Remote: Hybrid, onsite T, W, & R
Location: New York, NY
Contract length: 12 months
Schedule: Fulltime, 9a to 6p M-F
Pay: $60/hr to $70/hr, DOE

Job Overview:
Join client's Store Design and Visual Merchandising team to shape the future of our in-store experience. As a key creative partner, this role will drive innovative visual concepts and retail design solutions that bring the brand to life across all channels. Focused on new VM concepts for on-counter displays — including evergreen, distortion, and artistry units — this role champions creativity, scalability, and efficiency while collaborating across teams to evolve the brand's retail environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and manages the development and execution of innovative design solutions based on Global Brand Strategy and design intent of our ED of VMSD, overseeing all phases of projects to meet deadlines: concepting, design stages, obtaining approvals, and seeing all projects to completion
  • Participates in briefing, concept kickoff and all development sessions to discuss objectives and push innovation
  • Drives the development of design concepts across FSS, SMC and DS 360 channels
  • Creates presentation materials of design concepts for presentation to internal teams and Senior Management
  • Executes and oversee development of merchandising and technical guidelines, confident in how to direct regions in execution
  • Demonstrates an understanding of materials, cost, and time requirements on projects
  • Executes development of design and detail drawings as reference for regional design teams
  • Reviews fixture/unit shop drawings and vendor flow to ensure design details are accurate and meet the Global Brand standards
  • Organize seasonal store visits in home region and maintain knowledge of new, trending store experiences
  • Manages projects independently and is responsible for updating the ED/Ops of VMSD in weekly status meetings
  • Actively researches current trends in global culture, retail design, fashion, art, etc., and brings inspirational contributions and design ideas to weekly brainstorm sessions


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience, in industrial design, visual merchandising, store planning/design, event design, or related experience
  • Strong ability to conceptualize spatial designs and consumer journey
  • Familiar with FSS, DS, Open Sell and SMC environment design and execution
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to put presentations together independently that meet high-quality standards
  • Must thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and work both independently and closely with others
  • Demonstrate an understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, cost, and time requirements on projects
  • Strong eye for detail
  • Superior organizational skills; ability to plan, prioritize, multitask, and manage projects independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that contribute to great leadership
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, 3D modeling/rendering program of choice
  • Able to work well in a team environment and receive input from others, discuss/defend design solutions, and remain flexible in finding solutions
