Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: ~$85/hr W2 (DOE, competitive)
Duration: 6 months to start (extension likely)
Location: Remote (aligned to PST time zone)
We are seeking an experienced Android Engineer to support international growth initiatives, including translations and guest experience features. The role involves end-to-end Android development, from design and coding to testing, experimentation, and launch. This engineer will also maintain and enhance existing Android features while collaborating with a distributed, fast-paced team.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and support scalable Android features at a global level.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver user-facing functionality.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
- Maintain clear and proactive communication regarding progress, risks, and task dependencies.
- Manage designated tasks via Jira in an Agile environment.
- Contribute ideas on technical design and future feature development.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on Android applications at scale.
- Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java.
- Strong experience with Jetpack Compose and Kotlin Coroutines.
- Hands-on experience developing scalable Android apps in high-traffic environments.
- Working knowledge of GraphQL.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, Agile environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across remote teams.
- Demonstrated task ownership and accountability.
- Backend/service development experience (databases, APIs, Kubernetes).
- API design experience for maintainable mobile-backend integration.
- Exposure to internationalization, translations, or global guest experience features.
