Job Summary:
The Systems Design Engineer will support control system applications throughout the project lifecycle from initial design concepts through to installation and subsequent client support.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Implementation and translation of appropriate engineering solutions from client specifications and instrument databases into Equipment Designs, Logic Diagrams, Schematics, General Arrangements, Loop Diagrams, Heat & Power Calculations, Field Cable Connection Schedules and other documents as appropriate.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate and monitor resources for projects including setting and managing timescales and budgets.
• Provide verbal and written reports to communicate project status as required and contribute to project review meetings.
• Visit external panel manufacturing facilities to assess progress, provide technical assistance and for final inspection and sign off.
• Provide technical telephone assistance to customers and suppliers when necessary.
• To perform work in compliance with company’s QA Standards and Procedures.
• Client liaison and interface management.
• Development and maintenance of customer relationships
Qualification & Education Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience within oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industry.
• Within 30 days of hire, and prior to performing any work at client field sites, the following requirements must be met:
o OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training through an OSHAauthorized training provider.
o ANSI/ASSP Z390.1-2024: Hydrogen Sulfide Training.
o TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
Enrollment in the DISA NASAP Consortium Policy is required. Additional policies or programs may be mandated depending on specific client or project requirements.
Preferred Skills:
Computer literate, with experience of PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
• Experience of control system applications throughout the project lifecycle from initial design concepts through to installation and subsequent client support.
• Software design and support experience of PLC/HMI or DCS based control systems.
• Knowledge of Logic Solvers (BPCS and/or Safety Systems) ControlLogix, CompactLogix, GuardLogix, AAdvance, Trusted.
• Application experience of third-party systems integration of other manufacturers’ equipment.
• Proficiency in network design and configuration of network devices.
• Hardware design and support experience relating to control system equipment design and layout (panels, control desks and control rooms) and integration of other manufacturers’ equipment.
• Understanding of Control and Instrumentation.
• Understanding the requirements of Functional Safety Management to IEC 61508/ 61511. Demonstrable evidence of similar work performed to a competent standard.
• Experience in control systems engineering which relates to industrial automation systems (BPCS, CCS, SIS, BMS, HIPPS, LNG).
• Team player with the ability to integrate with other team project members
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer for design, documentation, and communication tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 15–50 lbs. for handling of objects and small equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during site visits, inspections, or meetings at client facilities.
• Capability to bend, kneel, or reach when examining equipment panels or cable connections during inspections.
Work Environment:
Office-based role with some travel as required.
• Ability to travel to off-site facilities, which may require driving and air travel (international and domestic).
• Attend on-shore sites both in USA, and abroad as necessary.
• Work at active industrial sites, including processing plants, pipelines, compressor or pumping stations, terminals, and refineries.
