Job Title: Senior Rail Project Engineer
Location: KC, STL and Omaha offices; travel 10-20%
Contract length: 12-month Contract
Pay: $60/hr - $100/hr
Senior Rail Project Engineer Qualifications 
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 7 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Required or
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 7 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Required or
  • Master Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years civil engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred. Required
  • Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members
  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
  • Ability to travel
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred
Senior Rail Project Engineer Description
  • Will direct and coordinate work associated with the study and/or design of civil site development infrastructure systems, including but not limited to rail and stormwater
  • Coordination of activities of several disciplines may be required for projects of significant or moderate scope, or a combination of smaller projects
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members
  • Assists with supervision of staff and task management on major projects
  • Regularly coordinates with design team members, clients, sub-consultants, utility companies or other project stakeholders
  • Work with a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians in the site civil design and analysis as it relates to rail projects
  • Performs tasks requiring applications of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures
  • Standard design of civil project work
  • Assist task leaders and project managers with various project duties
  • Serve as a team member on multi-disciplined projects
  • Works with senior staff on technical aspects of a project
  • Other duties as assigned
