Financial Analyst

Job Description:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance and working closely with members of the financial team, this forward-facing role serves as the principal administrator responsible for coordinating and executing the student funding process for the 750+ PhD students in the Division of Medical Sciences (DMS). This position requires a high level of customer service, analytical thinking, sounds judgement and attention to detail and will collaborate with colleagues across the Longwood Campus and in affiliated hospitals.
Job Responsibilities
• Executes a variety of complex financial tasks in order to ensure the accurate execution of the student funding process including all stipend and tuition payments for 750+ PhD students.
• Coordinates with students, faculty advisors and department financial contacts regarding the details and logistics of the faculty advisor’s financial obligations for their students.
• Updates and maintains student funding data in FileMaker database.
• Serves as the primary contact for the student funding process related inquiries.
• Advises students, faculty and department financial contacts on a wide range of financial support issues.
• Collaborates with various other University and Medical School administrative offices to execute financial processes and maintain compliance with applicable University financial policies.
• Responsible for knowledge of compliance around Student funding practices, federal award policies, Student Union appointment policies and other related student funding policies.
• Assists in running various financial reports.
• Other duties and special ad hoc projects as needed.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
• College degree strongly preferred, or an equivalent of education plus relevant business experience
• High level of organization skills with strong attention to detail
• Must be comfortable working as part of a team in a busy, rapidly changing environment
• Experience with computer information systems, desktop applications, online processes, and data processing helpful
• Experience with payroll processing a plus
• Experience working in higher education
• Able to handle highly confidential information with appropriate discretion and sensitivity required Able to prioritize duties and meet multiple deadlines
• Able to exercise a high degree of judgment to make sound independent decision
