Pay Range: $85,000 - $90,000
Seeking an experienced, detail-oriented self-starter with problem solving skills and a team attitude to join our organization as Senior Accountant. This individual will report to the Controller/CFO and will play a critical role in processing all transactional accounting information. As a member of a rapidly expanding organization, this position promises to be fast-paced and full of opportunity to implement new and impactful initiatives.
Responsibilities:
-Prepare month-end account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts. Research and resolve any discrepancies. -Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all operating and investment accounts.
-Prepare month-end reconciliations for revenues from local, state and federal funding entities. (Specifically per pupil, food service and Title funding).
-Coordinate with the Development team to perform monthly reconciliations for donor contributions. -Assist the Controller/CFO in the month-end close process including preparation of journal entries for payroll, monthly accruals and fixed asset detail for Charter and entities. Ensure accuracy of transactions. -Reconcile the Quarterly Form 941 to the General Ledger. -Assist Controller/CFO with audit preparation and preparation of IRS Form 990. -Assist Controller/CFO in updating accounting policies, procedures and chart of accounts to reflect the changing requirements of the organization and workflow process improvements. -Complete ad-hoc projects and other functional areas as needed (back-up support for Accounts Payable). -Compile, complete and submit regulatory reporting to local, state and federal agencies.
Required Qualifications: -Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other Business major, required. -Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting. -Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and a firm understanding of accounting concepts. Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards, preferred. -Strong mathematical, analytical and technical skills. -Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, computer applications such as Word, Excel and accounting systems, a must. Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge preferred, but not required. -Strong organizational abilities with close attention to detail and precision. -Able to communicate status and issues effectively orally and in writing. Ability to keep information confidential. -Strong customer service focus, with an ability to interact congenially and effectively with a diverse network of employees, customers and vendors
