As Senior Accountant you support this Mission, by assisting and supporting the VP of Finance by reviewing the corporations’ books of account as well as reviewing the monthly financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP for our legal entities. You will be one of the primary contact persons with the agency’s external auditing firm and banks. You will also be helping to implement the AP Electronic Approval and Data Management system.
Accounting Duties:
· Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensure accuracy of coding, check additions to assets and liabilities, verify that A/P aging and A/R aging and the corresponding G/L accounts have been balanced, verify that any balances due/to from HUD and our organization are correct and that statements are produced in a timely manner.
· Oversee the monthly tracking/reconciliation of investment accounts and the associated journal entries in time for the monthly close including all necessary reporting on agency’s FSGB restricted funds.
· Work to help implement the AP Electronic Approval and Data Management system.
· Review all reconciliation of bank statements are performed on a monthly basis.
· Prepare schedules for annual 990 reporting by March 1st, communicate with external auditors around 990 preparation, and review 990 and Massachusetts Form PC drafts to support filing by May 15th.
· Ensure all audit reconciliations are sent to the external audit firm on a timely basis and provide information as needed for any BC, CASPAR, Growthways, HUDs, Workers Comp, and 403(b) audits.
Department Operations Duties:
· Back up Cash Management when VP of Finance is out of office.
· Annually, or as necessary, review Accounting Department policies and procedures and indicate review date in the Electronic Handbook.
· Ensure completion of all Form 3ABC, annual Census, and CEDAC/DHCD reporting, as well as applying for property tax abatement on all newly acquired property.
· Ensure any necessary financial information for CARF and other accreditation reviews are completed annually or as needed.
