Robotics Mechanical Technician – (Contract w/possible Contract-to-Hire) – Onsite – MA
Dynamic Robotics Manufacturer seeks a Robotics Mechanical Technician for an onsite 6-month contract that could go to permanent/direct hire. The ideal candidate requires 5+ years hands-on mechanical assembly/prototyping in robotics, motor sports, aerospace, or similar environments. This individual should also have an extensive understanding of motor systems, electormechancial actuators, gears, bearings, and precision mechanical components, and proficiency with hand tools, mechanical measurement tools and interpretation of technical drawings. Additionally, CNC equipment, custom tooling, and CAD-based fixture design are required. This opportunity affords a longer-term contract working with a cutting-edge tech organization within a dynamic environment providing free lunch, parking, and happy hour Fridays, just west of Boston.US Citizen and Green Card work authorization are required. Individual will be eligible to work as W2 Consultant with or without benefits. Requirements
US Citizenship/Green Card Work Authorization Required.
A candidate located within the Boston area is also required.
5+ years hands-on mechanical assembly/prototyping in robotics, motorsports, aerospace, or similar environments.
Extensive understanding of motor systems, electromechanical actuators, gears, bearings, and precision mechanical components.
Proficiency with hand tools, mechanical measurement tools and interpretation of technical drawings.
Expertise with CNC equipment, custom tooling, and CAD-based fixture design are required (SolidWorks or CATIA).
History of mechanical troubleshooting and issue resolution to include conducting basic test procedures.
Expertise with robotic cable routing, soldering, crimping, and overmolding are desired, but not required.
A background in fabrication (machining, welding, and more) is also desired but not required.
Familiarity with CNC Repair and Maintenance, A&P mechanic work, or other technical repair roles.
Responsibilities
Assembling, testing and troubleshooting electromechanical motor systems, gearboxes, actuators, and structural components for humanoid robotic development.
Interpreting/following engineering drawings, schematics, and work instruction to accurately complete build.
Participating in protype assembly to include design feedback loops and mechanical refinement of robotic subsystems.
Operating CNC and manual machines, while supporting fabrication tasks including bending, laser etching, and potting.
Supporting/maintaining the assembly of test stations, ensuring equipment is calibrated and that workspace is safe/organized.
Collaborating with engineers in the development and documentation of repeatable assembly processes, build fixtures and tooling, as well as refining part manufacturability.
Conducting root-cause analysis and proposing corrective actions for mechanical/electromechanical failures.
Utilization of PLM /MRP systems for parts and document build management/histories.
Providing ongoing feedback and ideas for process improvements to reduce build time and improve quality.
