Job Description
his is for a PM with Instrumentation and Controls expertise. Ideally an electrical I&C engineering degree and strong controls background.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, climb hills, climb ladders & stairs, enter equipment through small doors. Able to work in cold and hot weather and be on their feet a lot. May be required to climb 20’ ladders but could be a series of 20’ ladders working at 100’.
Travel: Will be required to drive up to 125 miles. A company vehicle is available for check out to drive to site visits, CW can also drive their personal vehicle.
Responsibilities:
• Leading all phases of the project from planning through execution and close out.
• Meeting project success factors as laid out by Duke PMCOE standards including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, configuration management and integration.
• Providing leadership, oversight management, delegation, coordination to various internal and external organizations who are supporting the project. These individuals will be both contract and internal and include engineers, project controls, supply chain, legal, EHS, QAQC, operations, regulatory, security, management, constructors, transmission, and more.
• Communicating with all project stake holders including leading all project related meetings including but not limited to monthly project reviews, kick offs, status meetings, and design reviews.
• Creating and submitting required project documentation. This includes but is not limited to status reports, approval white papers, financial requests, change requests, project plans, scope documents, requests for proposals, and lessons learned.
• Estimating and budgeting current and future projects’ finances and schedules.
• Managing all matrixed members of the project team on a daily basis including interfacing with functional managers of team members to determine resource needs, placement, development, and conflict resolution.
• Understanding license and regulatory requirements that projects may impact and leading required permit or deviation obtainment.
• Coordination with supply chain for bidding and awarding engineering, equipment manufacturing, and construction labor.
• Leading project construction to ensure adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and schedule requirements.
Wanted Qualifications:
• 12+ years of operations, engineering, or PM experience at a power generation facility.
• BSEE.
• Registered Professional Engineer.
• PMP Certification.
• Engineering or PM experience related to electrical power (balance of plant) or controls experience in the power generation industry or balance of plant mechanical experience.
• Experience at hydro plant or working over or near water.
• Demonstrated understanding of stringent environmental requirements.
• Demonstrated understanding of Duke style safety culture.
• Team player.
• Attention to detail.
• Time management skills to provide appropriate attention to multiple simultaneous projects and competing priorities.
This position is typically retained to manage multiple?Green I? or?Green II? projects per the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 9 years of project management experience. Graduation from a four-year college or university. Proficient in project management principles. Preferred Qualifications: Masters - business (MBA), project management, or equivalent. Utility Technical Certifications/Training; PMP or CAPM Certification; CMII/Construction Certifications; Professional Engineer License. Working knowledge to proficiency in project related Scheduling/ Cost Controls. Experience in utility industry. Knowledge in construction management. The Project Manager II may have relationships with individuals in various organizations ranging from individual contributors to Senior Department Leadership (i.e. individual contributors up to executive management).
