Job Description
A Project Civil Engineer responsible for the site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, erosion control, hydrologic modeling, drainage, sediment control design, plan reviews, code reviews, feasibility studies, permitting, municipal & land-use regulatory approvals and report preparation for a variety of site development projects.

- Manage multiple projects and tasks; this includes monitoring schedules & budgets to ensure effective completion of projects as well as client satisfaction.
- Meet regularly with clients.
- Preparation of proposals for new & existing clients (including estimation of project fees).
- Oversee the development of Land Development Plans; this includes the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specification, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction).
- Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large scale, complex projects.
- Delegate workload to Junior Engineers & Drafters; this includes mentoring / guiding Junior Engineers to develop Stormwater Management [SWM] strategies, Utility Coordination, and Erosion & Sediment Control [E&SC] Design.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or a related discipline).
- 7+ years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with Land Development design projects).
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- PE license in VA (we will consider candidates who are able to successfully obtain their PE within 6 months of their start date).
- Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects is preferred.
- Experience working on brownfield (land redevelopment) as well as greenfield projects.
- Experience working with stormwater management, especially while utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools.
- Proficiency with standard office & project management software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Bluebeam Revu, etc.
- Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues.
