Job Overview:
Planet Technology's financial services client is seeking a Network Engineer. As Network Engineer, you will assist the Help Desk, Security, and Infrastructure personnel in solving end-user or server-based network problems. Occasional work with business users, and therefore a high level of integrity, is required. This role would be ideal for a person from a traditional IT infrastructure and network who wishes to transition to a fast-growing Hybrid-Cloud environment. This individual is a critical component of a small team that will make a huge impact on the company’s future success. Additionally, after-hours onsite work will be needed in support of network initiatives and maintenance.

The ideal candidate is someone who has:
  • Industry-related experience as a Network Engineer or Senior Network Engineer
  • Professional certification(s) (preferably CCNP)
  • Solid background in network administration and design
  • In-depth communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
  • Familiarity with access control models and network security
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
  • Solid grasp of network operating systems (Cisco IOS-XE and NexusOS)
  • Experience with hybrid-cloud networking, WAN concepts, and firewalling

What you will do:
  • Deploy, patch, and optimize all network resources in the company across 15+ locations, 2 data centers, and an MPLS-connected wide-area-network
  • Lead all aspects of patching (done with a third-party firm) for all network equipment and ensure adequate testing
  • Monitor network metrics and integrity
  • Resolve issues raised by cloud and local infrastructure alerts
  • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  • Lead network-related projects and deployments, coordinating with other teams as needed
  • Mentor team members on technical issues
  • Create, coordinate and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
  • Collaborate with executives, office managers and end-users as needed
  • Maintain complete user documentation
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
  • And other responsibilities as required

What you bring:
  • Understanding of hybrid cloud networking
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • excellent verbal and written communication

Education (Preferred):
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience

Experience:
  • 3–5 years working in Network Engineering and/or IT Infrastructure
