Medical Billing Specialist
3 month contract
Boston, MA
Pay Range: $34-$35/hr
Must Haves:
- At least five years medical billing experience, with previous experience specifically in dental billing.
- Must have a working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes, data entry systems for 3rd party billing, various types of payers and their reimbursement and denial patterns.
- Thorough understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word and intermediate level Excel skills.
- Prior experience with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicare advantage plans, MVA and/or Worker’s Compensation preferred
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate claims submission, accounts receivable follow-up, payment posting, EOB and COB processing, credit balance refunds, bad debt and collections along with the other responsibilities listed below.
Responsibilities include:
- Collecting, posting and managing account payments
- Preparing and submitting claims
- Preparing and sending patient statements
- Following up with insurance companies
- Monitoring any delinquent accounts
- Identifying and resolving and billing complaints or issues
- Must be able to communicate with patients, insurance companies, and fellow healthcare professionals, answering questions and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Must have an understanding of dental billing & coding, basic computer skills, and a knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and regulations regarding insurance.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- At least five years medical billing experience, with previous experience specifically in dental billing.
