Position Overview: The Manufacturing Engineer Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. This role focuses on improving production efficiency, product quality, and minimizing costs while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development and Optimization: Design and implement new manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment. Continuously improve existing processes to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Address production challenges, including equipment malfunctions, quality issues, and delays. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve problems.
- Project Management: Lead or assist in the planning and execution of manufacturing projects, including new product introductions, equipment upgrades, and facility improvements.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on production data to monitor efficiency, identify trends, and propose improvements. Use tools like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other methodologies to optimize workflows.
- Equipment and Facility Support: Ensure that all manufacturing equipment is functioning properly. Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure uptime and minimize disruptions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, quality, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into manufacturing processes. Provide technical support for product design modifications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of processes, equipment specifications, and process improvements. Ensure that documentation meets regulatory and company standards.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with all safety, health, environmental, and quality regulations.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment

- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software, PDM and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including laser and TIG welding and CNC machining. Knowledge/experience working with electrical components and systems and soldering a plus.
- Electromechanical assembly design/manufacturing experience including metrology methods and GD&T.
- Automation experience a plus.
- Proven track record of fixture and production cell design to accommodate novel processing techniques
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze data and make decisions based on insights.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to embrace continuous learning and stay abreast of technological advancements in manufacturing, such as automation and robotics.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory standards such as ISO 9001 & 17025
- Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- On-site position in Franklin, MA, working closely with production teams and management.
- Occasional travel to vendors or other facilities may be required.
