Summary
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and grounds for both the North and South plant locations. This position involves supervising contractors, coordinating maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and addressing emergencies promptly. The Facilities Technician will also collaborate with management to manage capital projects and maintain accurate records.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS):
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This organization operates three, eight to ten-hour shifts, 7 days a week. Days and hours of work are Sunday – Saturday. Days of work are subject to change due to sanitation rotation cleaning schedule. The Facilities Technician is expected to work the necessary number of hours to ensure all department demands are met and provide coverage on the off shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
An office space: working computer, telephone, desk, and chair as needed to complete administrative tasks. Enter and work within temperature-controlled environments of -10 to 85 degrees. Some assignments may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, and various forms of radiation. Some assignments could be extremely dangerous in the event of dizziness, loss of consciousness, or loss of balance. Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing food. Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve lifting of raw materials, finished cases of bread, and ingredients. All employees will be required to wear a slip resistant safety steel toe shoe.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

- Respond promptly to 24-hour emergencies and urgent issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with Management to ensure smooth facility operations.
- Inspect buildings, sites, and equipment to identify repair and maintenance needs.
- Troubleshoot facilities and grounds issues to determine causes and solutions.
- Assist with construction project management.
- Maintain maintenance records and prepare reports.
- Assists with safety inspections and conducts other required inspections/tests as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards according to company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Complete all required paperwork, records, and documents.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance functions, including equipment upkeep and repairs.
- Monitor building and grounds to ensure safe conditions and report findings to management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accreditation standards.
- Respond promptly to employee requests for maintenance or custodial assistance.
- Document and report pending or completed work as required.
- Collaborate with custodial staff and provide assistance when needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to safety regulations.
- Provide feedback on project status to relevant associates and managers.
- Assist with any other maintenance duties as required by the Facilities Manager.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general construction repairs.
- Prior experience in property or facility maintenance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance techniques.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing industry a plus and regulation inspection procedures is highly desired.
