Pay Rate: Up to $35/HR

Planet Interactive's Higher-Education client is in need of a dynamic and detail-oriented Event Coordinator for a month 3-month assignment starting in October 2024!

The Event Coordinator will provide hospitality, logistical support, guest services, or materials to event participants and guests. 

 Event Coordinator Responsibilities:
  • Assist the events of the client's logistics staff to enable smooth, efficient planning and implementation processes for room reservations, media services, catering and other needs.
  • Coordinate with the Events Strategy Team, maintaining proactive and responsive process and communication, attending Events Strategy meetings, ensuring team documents and follows up on decisions and guiding debriefs and reflections afterwards.
  • Help event proposers to understand how to make their events most successful, given the resources available, the goals of the particular event, and the current topical themes of the Center.
  • Support virtual programs, interactions and events and virtual participation in physical events.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to ensure that our programs and community work is shared within our extended community, audiences outside our community and the public at large. Help to implement consistent and effective communications about all events hosted by the Center including email campaigns, social media, posters, and internal communications.
  • Conduct outreach to include other centers, departments and student groups on campus and organizations outside of the university with particular attention to the diversity of voices and opportunities for collaboration.
 Event Coordinator Qualifications:
  • Events management.
  • Keen judgment.
  • Highly organized events manager capable of acting independently and in a committed team environment, serving a very dynamic global community of scholars, students, industry actors and activists so social skills are crucial, especially kindness and inclusiveness.
  • Ability to remain highly organized during large or complex events, to maintain good communication with the event coordinator and other event staff, and strong awareness of the schedule and timing required for the event. 
  • Ability to work with event participants in a friendly and professional manner required.
  • Punctuality, professional appearance and business attire required.
  • Ability to follow the direction of the event coordinator required.
  • Previous experience with events in business, nonprofit or academic setting preferred.
