Job Description
Our client is looking for an Environmental Compliance Engineer to provide environmental expertise and support for their core business units, including sand and gravel mining, limestone quarries, asphalt production & paving, concrete production, and steel mill services.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and implements environmental compliance programs (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP)
Conducts environmental training (e.g., SPCC, Storm Water, Air Compliance, ISO 14001)
Completes regulatory reporting (e.g., SARA Tier II and TRI reports)
Apply for environmental permits (e.g., Air Permits, Groundwater Discharge Permits, NPDES Permits)
Supports remediation, construction and demolition projects
Assists with the implementation of environmental and safety policies and regulations
Participates in site EHS audits
Assists in investigating environmental related incidents, conducts root causes and coordinates the implementation of corrective actions
Monitors compliance and training records
Develops and maintains current knowledge of environmental regulations
Develops and maintains positive relations with internal and external stakeholders to support EHS programs and initiatives
Assist with special projects and other duties assigned by manager
QUALIFICATIONS
8-15 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of EPA and state environmental regulations
Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format individually and in group settings
Ability to interface with various levels of employees and customers
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to operate a motor vehicle, valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Ability to travel by ground and air
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sitting, standing, walking for extended periods of time
Lifting up to 30 pounds
Tolerating noise and temperature variations
Climbing
Operating a motor vehicle
