Location: Hybrid: 3 days onsite in Boston, MA (with flexibility to go in more frequently as needed) Duration: 12 months Pay Rate: up to $48/hr
The Planet Group's Higher Education client, based in Boston, MA, is seeking a Digital Training Specialist for 12-month long-term freelance assignment starting in April 2025!
This is a hybrid position where candidates will be required to work onsite for 3 days a week.
The Digital Training Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering accessible technical training programs, simplifying complex concepts, and continuously enhancing educational materials to support the effective adoption of modern digital solutions.
Digital Training Specialist Responsibilities:
Facilitate training sessions on modern workplace and classroom technologies, address attendee questions, and promote additional relevant training opportunities.
Design, develop, and update training programs and materials for existing services and new service rollouts, ensuring accuracy and progression from basic to advanced topics.
Identify appropriate training methods (e.g., synchronous, asynchronous, in-person, remote) and collaborate with communications teams for effective promotion.
Participate in project meetings to assess training needs, align messaging across teams, and incorporate updates based on feedback, vendor documentation, and service roadmaps.
Maintain a consistent focus on improving trainings by gathering feedback and adapting to the evolving needs of the community.
Digital Training Specialist Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in instructional technology or 3 years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience integrating current and emerging technologies for workplace or educational initiatives.
3+ years of teaching or training experience, preferably in a technical setting.
Ability to create curriculum, training opportunities, and materials for adopting educational technology.
Proficiency with educational and workplace tools (e.g., Canvas, Microsoft 365, Panopto, LTI standards, Smartsheet, Robin).
Familiarity with media production tools (e.g., screencasting, digital video production/editing).
Experience in higher education or academic/research community environments.
Excellent interpersonal communication and strong writing skills.
Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues, collaborate on support requests, and document solutions effectively.
Willingness to learn new technologies and stay current with teaching and learning trends.
Ability to identify goals and provide tailored solutions using available technology.
Self-motivated, creative, and proactive with strong organizational skills for prioritizing projects in fast-paced environments.
Commitment to professional growth through continuous self-improvement and training.
Digital Training Specialist Preferred Qualifications:
2–4 years of experience supporting academic technologies or course development in higher education.
Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field.
Experience with learning analytics to improve student outcomes.
Knowledge of accessibility standards for creating inclusive materials.
Familiarity with service management and ITIL processes.
