Planet Interactive is looking for an Apparel Designer to join our well known retail brand on a 6 month contract! This role is 40 hours per week and will be hybrid in Beaverton, OR.
A key part of this role is understanding the full scope of product creation from design concept to production. The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver and a proactive thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment. They are an active participant in triad discussions and support the team with technical recommendations that serve consumers.

Responsibilities:
- Create and update development documentation for factory partners including Bill of Materials.
- Participate in proto review sessions and comment on the quality, craftsmanship, and manufacturing feasibility of assigned styles.
- Raise awareness of potential quality or manufacturing risks and partner with team to find a resolution.
- Track prototypes for styles, meet calendar target dates, attend meetings that relate to product’s development and communicate progress and challenge
- Manage assigned styles collaboratively with cross functional partners to bring creative solutions and ensure the finished product meets or exceeds the required end use
- Review proto’s and samples, shepherding the styles through the creation process while meeting gates and dates to ensure on-time production
- Collaborate with Design, Technical Design, Product Management, Materials, Quality, Color and our factory partners to effectively execute on product development deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in apparel design textile science or related field.
- Two years additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 5 years development experience in the apparel industry which includes the apparel development process from inception through production including construction materials costing manufacturing and quality.
- Strong problem solving organization and communication skills.
- Experience interpreting design intent and offering alternative solutions.
- Understanding of product specs and construction standards instructions.
- Experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator familiarity of CAD Pattern Design software Optitex and 3D software Clo/Browzwear highly desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
