Laboratory Manager – (Full-time/Perm) – Onsite – Northern CA, MN, OH
Leading US Lab Testing Facility seeks a Lab Manager for an onsite permanent opportunity located in either Northern CA, MN, or OH. 3+ years of managerial experience within a lab required, ideally having managed a minimum of 20 people. Knowledge of food microbiology testing methodologies to include CMMEF, BAM, AOAC, USP, MLG, and ISO are also a requirement. Ideal candidate will have prior documentation expertise to include reporting, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Lastly, individual must be comfortable in presenting to management, clientele, and the general public. Opportunity offers competitive compensation and benefits within a stable and growing organization for a US Citizen or Green Card Holder. Individual must be local or willing to relocate to Northern CA, MN, and OH for this 5-day-a-week onsite role. Please no third-party agencies. Must be located in the US.

Requirements:
- US Citizen or Green Card Work Authorization; Residency in the US.
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Technology or a regulated field.
- Extensive knowledge of food microbiology testing methodologies to include: MLG (microbiology lab guidebook), BAM (bacterial analytical manual), AOAC (association of official analytical collaboration testing), USP (united states pharmacopeia testing), ISO, and CMMEF (compendium of methods for microbiological examination of foods).
- Prior history of writing reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals.
- Presentation skills to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from group managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Occasional travel.
Responsibilities:
- Providing oversight of lab operations to include maintaining quality, efficiency, and turnaround time, while maintaining direct contact with clientele.
- Ensuring accurate and timely response to customer inquiries to maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
- Serving as hiring manager for lab ensuring all personnel receive timely reviews and possess promotional and professional development goals, guiding them along the way.
- Responsible for oversight of lab financials to ensure profitability.
- Working with lab team to ensure ISO 17025 compliance, while making sure the Corporate Quality Management System is correctly employed.
- Performing all lab operations as they relate to the generation and communication of microbiological and chemical testing results.
- Working closely with the corporate team to delegate responsibilities for lab operations to the lab management team if absent from the laboratory.
- Ensuring cleanliness of lab to include sanitization, organization and building/equipment maintenance and operations are performed, while also making sure lab maintains the Lab Safety Program always.
- Supervising non-routine projects per client request and as required.
- Maintaining a high degree of technical competence through regular reading of scientific journals, attending professional workshops and constant awareness of food industry issues and trends.
- Regularly review and audit lab staff to ensure compliance with methods.
- Communicate regularly with clientele on lab capabilities, results, pricing, and related topics as needed.
